Inonesia mainly practices commercial farming, which is growing enough food to not only feed you and your family, but growing enough food to sell. The reason they are mainly practicing commercial farming is because their population is quickly growing, and they need anough food to support all the people. Indonesia's largest commercial crop is sugar; with the production reaching 26,000,000 tons in 1999.  Rice is another one of their primarily staple crops. in 2001-2002 Indonesia was the world's 4th largest coffee producer with about 369,600 tons of coffee grown that year. They were the worl's second largest producer of palm oil with 9.1 million tons produced in 2001-2002 as well. About 45 percent of Indonesia's population are farmers in the labor force. There are 76.6 million acres under cultivation for farming in Indonesia.
