The traditional music in Java and Bali which are Indonesian islands is Gamelan music. It is made up of mainly percussive instruments. Gamelan music has recently become less popular in the past few  years because of the introduction of pop music in Indonesia, but it is still played on formal occasions and many traditional ceremonies.

Wayang, the Javanese, Sundanese, and Balinese often have shadow puppet theatre shows based on mythological legends like Ramayana and Mahabharata.

The art ofsilat (a type of martial arts), was first introduced in Indonesia in Sumatra and Java. It is an art of survival traced back to the ancient warriors of Indonesia. Silat was used to determine posirion and rank in old Indonesian kingdoms.

Badminton is Indonesia's most popular sport. They have won gold medals in the Olympics every year since the sport was introduced in 1992. Badminton came from Alan Budikusuma in men's singles, and Susi Susanti in women's singles in 1992.

An example of Sudanease food is roasted fish, rice wrapped in banana leaf, fried chicken, sumbal, and kobokan, the bowl of water with lime.

Indonesia's largest chain of cinema's is 21Cineplex, which has cinemas spread throughout Indonesia in 24 cities on Indonesia's main islands. Indonesia also has a state radio network, calledthe Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI). Bollywood is also popular media in Indonesia. Indonesian's love Bollywood movies because of their abilty to cause strong emotional reactions. ‘Bheja Fry 2,' was a Bollywood produced movie that was filmed in Indonesia. Hindu movies such as this one are shown on television in Indonesia at least twice a day on different channels and sometimes last up to four hours.
